Easy flourless blackberry and apple crumble
Want something sweet without the nasty added sugars ? This naturally sweet gluten free and dairy free blackberry and apple crumble is delicious. Such a classic combination that can only be eaten with a grin. A homemade crumble at its best.

Ingredients
- 5 medium granny smith apples, peeled and cored – or apple of your choice
- 500 grams blackberries, washed and dried (frozen blackberries are fine, no need to defrost)
- 1 lemon, zest
- 1 vanilla pod, fresh (cut in half and scrape the vanilla out of the pod) or vanilla powder
- 400 grams ground almonds
- ½ cup almonds, loosely chopped
- ½ cup pecans, loosely chopped
- 3 tablespoons margarine spread, dairy free or a light olive oil.
Method
- Pre heat oven at 180° degrees.
- Chop the apple into 2cm x 2cm cubes and place in an ovenproof baking dish 21cm x 26cm in size.
- Place the blackberries in with the apple and mix through.
- Sprinkle the fresh vanilla and lemon zest over the top and give it another mix through then put to one side.
- In a medium sized mixing bowl place the ground almonds and dairy free spread or oil.
- Making sure your hands are clean gently with your finger tips knead through the dairy free spread or oil with the ground almonds to make the crumble topping.
- Now add in the loosely chopped almonds and pecans.
- Spread the crumble topping evenly over the top of the blackberry and apple mix.
- Place in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, until golden and crunchy.
