Developing confidence from within
Developing confidence from within
Have you ever felt lacking in confidence, or perhaps felt uneasy in certain situations? Confidence is actually a natural quality and expresses from our inner relationship and presence we have with our being and our body.
Taking care of our body is an essential part we play, to prepare the body so it is equipped to respond to whatever it is we meet in life. Being fully present with ourselves, and with the moment we are in, enables us to know how to handle what is before us.
Why then we may feel we lack confidence, is worth exploring.
When nurtured as children it is natural for us to express freely what is felt from our bodies. We don’t have to work at it or try to be confident in any particular way. It is often said that children are wise beyond their years, or is it simply they have not been conditioned otherwise? They move and express what is felt directly from their bodies.
Yet there is also false confidence or bravado that is rather a learned behaviour, where the focus becomes the ‘performance factor’ or selling of oneself to make one’s mark or earn approval. The ‘confidence’ is built from the outer recognition for what has been done or accomplished.
Let’s take a deeper look at where true confidence comes from and what a feeling of lack or unease of being may be showing us, as in truth we are everything we are and need to be in this moment; in presence and connection with our essence.
Some key points that support this connection are as follows…
Staying with your body
When we are simply being ourselves, in connection with the body, it does not require any particular way to be, just simply us, our own unique expression. Being at one with what it is we are doing, that is, we have conscious presence with what we are doing, we are with that moment. In presence with each moment the being just knows, and there is nothing to prove. Confidence is natural to us, though it may be we need to re-connect with that through the body if we have believed otherwise; we each have our unique angle of expression to reflect in the world.
Listening to your body
If a feeling of not being confident arises in us it is letting us know we have left the connection with our being and body in that moment. It may be we have let in an interfering thought or feeling that has distracted or taken us out. These moments though offer an opportunity to stop and re-connect with our breath and our body.
It sounds so simple and natural which in truth it is; yet it requires an attentiveness and presence of being. Listening to the body’s signals provides a wealth of insight. We live in a world that is 24/7 on the go and ahead of itself, and it could be said a lot of choices in life do not support a depth of connection with our bodies either. Think coffee, sugar, alcohol, over-eating, and the constant doing and stimulation available. How do our bodies really react to these types of stimulation?
Our lack of connection is exhausting us; living ahead of ourselves is exhausting.
Taking care of your body
It is well documented that exercise, eating well, and getting enough sleep are essential parts of taking care of ourselves on the functional physical level, though we can take things deeper and consider the quality of being we bring to everything we do; bringing awareness to the gentleness in our touch, to the quality in the way we walk, interact and be in life. We are multilayered beings, both physical and energetic and our energetic quality affects everything we think, say and do.
Laying loving foundations for your body
Every day we have the opportunity to review and re-set or deepen our foundations. To look at what is truly supportive for us, and what we can bring more attention to, be that in the choices we make for our physical body as mentioned with food, exercise or sleep patterns, while also looking at the energetic integrity and energetic responsibility we bring to all we do – the quality of how and why we do what we do. Everything we do for ourselves has a flow-on effect to those around us too.
Loving foundations support our body and our being, and that is the quality we share with others.
Knowing we are more than a body
We are soulful beings and we have a body, yet we are so much more than our physicality. When taking care of our body, staying connected and present, we support a deepening Awareness and access to the wisdom within us, which can then be expressed through the body in everyday life. Self-care takes on a new dimension when we consider we have an energetic body to care for too, and that how we are with ourselves affects all others.
Our bodies are magnificent vehicles of expression for the soul to work through. Our true confidence comes from the connection we hold within.
